Where do you want to go? The village of Pewsey is south of Marlborough and offers many traditional outdoor pursuits – ballooning and horse riding amongst others. Try the traditional Vale of Pewsey walk! Have a drive in the other direction and go through Wantage, birthplace of Alfred the Great on your way to marvel at the beauty that is Oxford, home of the world famous Oxford University.

National Trust sites abound with interest, the Magna Carta at Salisbury Cathedral, the Tutenkhamen exhibition at Highclere Castle and the famous Gardens and Country Fairs at Bowood House. Take in the historic capital of Wessex in Winchester, with its statue of Alfred the Great and relax in the beautiful cathedral. For those interested in our local mythology and history a journey to Stonehenge is a must as is the Circle at Avebury. Have a look at the famous White Horse of Uffington or its counterpart at Cherhill?

Continue with nature and go to Finkley Down Farm Park (lambs, calves, rabbits, kids, chicks – you can buy buckets of feed and play until your heart is content!) and the Hawk Conservancy. A little further afield lie Beale Wildlife Park and Basildon Park National Trust .

For the train enthusiast, a visit to the Steam Museum at Swindon is a must, as is a visit to the Steam Railway Museum at Didcot. Why not combine the trip into one of retail therapy with the Swindon Designer Outlet Shopping Mall or a visit to the Retail Centre at Bicester where designer clothes can be purchased at reduced costs?

For the golf lover, there are courses galore with ones at Newbury, Reading, Calcot… the list goes on!
