03/06/2010c Kristabelle via Trip AdvisorI recently stayed at The Bear for 2 nights. Great room, love the shower. Love the staff. I had an urgent call from home come in before I even checked into the hotel. They told me right when I walked into the hotel and allowed me to use the phone to call to the USA without charge. Great breakfast. The only complaint was the bar noise at 3 in the morning but it was during the world cup so not much you could do about the noise. Over all a good value for the money!
24/05/2010Via Trip AdvisorMy wife and I stayed at The Bear for a couple of days last week. The deal included two nights accommodation, breakfast both days and dinner for one night. We upgraded to a suite at a total cost of £169! It could not have been better - an excellent room, good service and superb food in the bar and restaurant. One minor criticism is the pillows, feather would have been nice. Highly recommended.

08/05/2010Via Trip AdvisorStayed here for 1 night in a deluxe room. The hotel sits on a busy room so as soon as we arrived I asked for a room not facing onto the road and was helpfully moved to one overlooking the courtyard. The room was nicely decorated and the bathroom was modern - however there was some mould in the shower. The staff we encountered were all helpful and friendly.Unfortunately, due to the timing this was just a place to sleep so didn't get to try the food but the restaurant / menu looked very nice. In the room, there were some great DBB deals so would prob be worth contacting the hotel direct to check offers before you book. Am returning again in May.

07/05/2010deborah jamesI want to let all the staff at the Bear ,especially Lee, that you are an amazing place to stay. Once you visit the Bear you DO NOT want to leave, and that is a promise. You feel very spoilt from the moment you step in the door to the moment you depart. The rooms are fabulous and once I came to stay for one night and ended up staying for 3!! THAT IS HOW FANTASTIC IT IS....100 out of 10....kind regards.. deborah

20/03/2010Dawn Chappell DinnerHi Lee,Sorry it's taken me so long to get round to sending you this email. It's a very delayed thank you for all the arrangements you and your staff made back in March for my birthday party at The Bear. It was a perfect venue and The Snug was ideal, as it gave us all the privacy we needed and we didn't feel guilty about making lots of noise! The food was excellent, and you and your staff went out of your way to make the evening special. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Bear and hope I can think of an excuse to have another party there at some time in the future. Many thanks again.Kind Regards,Dawn Chappell
28/02/2010Pippa Stephens LunchHi Lee,I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for organising yesterday's lunch so brilliantly - a good time was had by all! The pre-drinks in the bar worked really well and we ended up having cake and coffee/tea in the reception area which allowed people to mingle a little more - as opposed to being seated at a table - so that worked well too. We thought about going back to the bar but there were a few people having a nice sunday lunch in there and we didn't want to disturb them. 20 people can make quite a lot of noise even when they're all speaking pretty quietly! Please extend my thanks to all the staff who made Mum's birthday very special. Kind regardsPippa
